Ken Bradford
CHIEF advancement officer
Ken Bradford is the volunteer Chief Advancement Officer for the No Walls Ministry where he assists in the organization's communications, brand management, public affairs, as well as development and fundraising. He comes to the position with 20 years of leadership experience as a Coast Guard officer followed by over 25 years of nonprofit work. He has extensive experience leading and managing the organizational, resource development, and partnership-building activities of nonprofit organizations.
Ken has a passion for helping organizations that focus on meeting basic needs, but more importantly, on transforming people’s lives. He began his nonprofit career in Big Island, Virginia, where he served on the development team for the Society of St. Andrew, a nonprofit that salvages food from America’s farms to feed America’s hungry. After 12 years with the Society, he relocated to northern Virginia and took a position with the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, a division of Prison Fellowship. He later served as the Development Director for FACETS, a nonprofit providing critical services to homeless individuals and families. Discovering a heart for helping homeless parents with children, Ken joined the staff of Homestretch, an organization that exclusively works with homeless families to empower them to secure permanent housing and attain the knowledge, skills, and hope they need to achieve self-sufficiency.
Retiring in 2021, Ken moved to Bedford, Virginia, where he does occasional nonprofit consulting. He holds a B.S. in Government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a Master of Public Administration from George Mason University. He has been married to his wife Melinda since 1977 and they are members of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg. They have two adult children, a son, and a daughter.
